Description

Name(s)
de Perers (Perrers), Richard
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Richard de Perers makes two requests:1) He states that the executors of Maud, Countess of Gloucester, granted all the goods and chattels found in the manors which came to Hugh de Audele the son and Margaret his wife after Maud's death, to Hugh for 1000 marks; for which sum Hugh, his father and Richard made a recognisance to the executors to pay. Hugh the son granted the goods to Hugh the father and to Richard to sell them and to pay the 1000 marks to the executors. These goods are now seized by the sheriffs as the goods of Hugh the son, although he had no title in them. Richard requests a remedy.2) He states that the castle, vill and manor of Ongar and Stapelford Tawney were leased to him by Hugh the son for three years for £30 annually, and asks that he might hold them for that term.
