Nature of request
Henry de Lancaster makes three requests;1) He states that certain knights' fees have been in the hand of the King's father since the death of Patrick de Chaworth, because of the minority of Maud, his daughter and heir and Henry's wife. He asks the King to order the Chancellor to deliver them to him according to justice and the form of the inquisition.2) He requests writs of scutage for the King's fourth year, as the other great men of the realm have had.3) He states that it has been found by inquisition that Richard de Braidon, formerly Constable of St Briavels seized and accroached to the Forest of Dean twelve acres of pasture of Henry's own soil, but that because the inquisition does not mention that the Constable was present when it was held, the Chancellor does not wish to deliver the pasture to him. He asks that his right might not be delayed for so small a thing. He also requests the King's letters on all of this, as the Chancellor does not remember the command the King gave him at York.
