Nature of request
Raymond Guillem states that for his good service Lord Neville granted him for term of life the lands of Mees and Tercis-les-Bains in the Landes, which the Lord of Poyane held for term of life and which had been confiscated from him for the rebellion of the Lord de la Bret and Peter de la Bret, and that he held them peacefully until a Richard Merlyn came to England and persuaded the King to give them to him, contrary to right and customs of the country. He has appealed this matter before the King. He asks that the matter might be entrusted to suitable people from the country, who might examine the appeal and call the parties and those who should be called, and do full justice to Raymond, according to the customs of the country. And he asks that anything that has been attempted during and contrary to the appeal might be returned to its former state.
