[This petition is damaged.]John Martinus of Ceanuri states that on 15 March last, his ship, loaded with merchandise belonging to merchants from Castile, Florence, Piacenza, Genoa and other places, arrived in Southampton to trade under the safe-conduct and protection of Henry IV; but it was seized, and the goods and merchandise in it unloaded, because of certain letters of marque against the goods of Genoese granted by the present King to John Reynwell and other merchants of London, and then commandeered by them, to the petitioner's great loss and in violation of his safe-conduct and protection. He requests justice, and compensation for his losses and damages.
