- This petition is in five parts:1) It asks that the business of the franchises of the town of Lynn, which have been seized into the King's hand by virtue of an inquisition taken before William de Thorp and his companions, might be carefully examined as the King will find his right and the seisin to be quite reasonable and clear when matters have been explained.2) It states that although the Bishop of Norwich has given the King's council to understand that this inquisition was held without his knowledge, this is not the case, and that he was present, and used intimidation and corruption to try to disrupt the inquisition.3) They state that the inquisition was not held in a manner favouring the King, as the Bishop claims, and that his counsel did not show any charter or evidence, although asked to do so.4) They state that the jurors also asked to see the Bishop's charters and documents, but that although his counsel had a large number of charters, rolls and other documents, they would not show any - allegedly because they were worthless.5) They state that although the Bishop complains that the franchises were delivered into the keeping of John de Cokefford and Geoffrey Drewe, rather than of the sheriff, this is because the sheriff is of the Bishop's robes and council, and so the franchises were delivered to John and Geoffrey as more suitable and better for the King, as the jury found.

- Clearly the counter-petition to SC 8/239/11921, which is datable to 1350 with refrence to CPR 1348-50 p.551, dated 16 May 1350.C 49/7/21 is dated 20 Edward III (25 January 1346-24 January 1347).
