Nature of request
The Abbot and convent of Vaudey state that they are greatly impoverished, both by the tenths, aids and contributions demanded from them and by the distraints imposed upon them to levy these tenths, aids and contributions, so that their lands are uncultivated and they have nothing to live on. They request grace and mercy in the matter of £46 9s 6d demanded from them for a biennial tenth, and of a sack of wool which is also demanded from them; that they might be pardoned these or have some other good grace.
