Nature of request
William Fitz Garyn, keeper of the castle and lands of Montgomery, states that Chirbury hundred and its profits has always been attached to the wardship of this castle, and the Keepers of the castle have always held the grand tourns in the hundred, and the prisoners from these tourns have been brought to Montgomery castle to be arraigned at common law. William is now arraigned before the King's justices on this, and asks that this wardship might be confirmed, as it was in the time of the King's progenitors.

This petition was probably enclosed with no.14498 of C 81/280, which is dated 7 January 15 Edward III (1342).No.14760 of C 81/283 is dated 16 May 16 Edward III (1342). CIM 1307-49 no.1793 appears to be the result.
