Nature of request
Writ from Edward III to John de Offord, Dean of Lincoln and Chancellor of England, enclosing a petition from the Abbot of Titchfield, complaining that he and his tenants of Cadland are wrongly distrained to make suits, services and contributions dues to the manor of Bowcombe and the court of Newport on the Isle of Wight, and asking him to appoint Thomas de Aspale, Henry Romyn and Nicholas de Bokelond, clerk, or two of them, to inquire into this, and to order the bailiff of West Medina hundred to cease these demands until he has other commands from the King.
