[This petition is badly faded and the latter part illegible.]Ralph, Bishop of Bath and Wells, states that he has four fairs annually in his town of Wells, but that a band of malefactors have several times prevented him from receiving the profit of these fairs. They also disturb his view of frankpledge and hundred court there, and his other rights as lord of the town. [The request is illegible.]
Nature of endorsement
Because of the horrible nature of the trespass, and to [preserve] the right of Holy Church, the King has granted writs of oyer et terminer before . . . justices.
