Richard de Eccleshale states that the King gave him the prebend of Tullow [the prebend of St Columba of Tullow in the church of St Laserian at Old Leighlin] in Ireland, and that he sued to have it on the King's collation against the Archbishop of Dublin in court Christian and won, but that he is disturbed in his possession of the prebend by one John de Balscote, who has entered the prebend with force and arms and is impleading him in the court of Rome, although he is the King's officer and should not do such things against his oath and his liege lord. He requests such a remedy as will be an example to others.

Note
Dated by Connolly to 1343, with reference to C 47/10/20/4, writs on this matter to the chancellor of Ireland and the Archbishop of Dublin. However, dated on the guard to 18 Edward III (1344-5), and on the dorse to c. 1344, with reference to the petitioner, staying in England, appointing attorneys in Ireland on 20 August 1344 (CPR 1343-5 p.335).
