Nature of request
Richard de Denton states that for his great service to him, Edward II gave him all the lands in Cumberland, Westmorland and Yorkshire that Edmund Boyvill held in demesne or in reversion, as freely as Edmund or his ancestors held them; but in his charter no mention is made of the advowsons of churches or the services of free tenants. He asks that he might have the fees belonging to these lands and tenements and the advowson of the church of Thursby, belonging to the manor of Thursby - which manor and advowson Anneys his wife holds for term of life, with reversion to him by virtue of the late King's grant. He also asks for some other lands belonging to this manor, and some lands belonging to the manor of Ainstable, which are in the King's hand because of the forfeiture of William Blunt, who held them of the said manor.
