Nature of request
Nicholas, son and heir of John Lescot of Newcastle upon Tyne, states that his father held three messuages in Berwick-upon-Tweed, of which he was peacefully seised until the King took Berwick; but that the King has [given them] to various people. He asks that they might be [returned] to him, as his father was always loyal to the King and in his peace, never living in Scotland but in Newcastle.
Nature of endorsement
Coram rege.It is to be inquired into by the Keeper and Chamberlain, and what justice is possible is to be done to him. And if [the circumstances are such that] it cannot be done without consulting the King, the King is to be informed of this.
