Nature of request
The petitioners state that they and their ship and merchandise have been seized at Winchelsea at the suit of a Picard, who has a writ to arrest ships and merchandise arriving in England from Castro Ordiales, Laredo, Santander, La Pole, and Ymbremount: whereas they can show by the testimony of loyal merchants that they are from the lordship of Vizcaya, and not from any of these towns. They ask that they might be released, so that they can sell their merchandise as loyal people should. They also ask the King to order the Sheriff of London, who has received money from Martin de Zackaro of the lordship of Vizcaya, at the request of the same Picard, [to return it].

Formerly enclosed with no.2647 of C 81/84, which is dated 12 April 6 Edward II (1313). A safe conduct seemingly on this same matter was issued to other merchants on 6 November 1313.
