Nature of request
Peter Garcie and Martin Domynges, merchants of Portugal state that in the port of Le Havre in Normandy, they loaded their goods into a ship called the 'Nicholas' of Yarmouth, to be taken to Flanders, but the master and mariners cheated them, and, instead of going to Flanders, set out for Great Yarmouth. They put some of the merchants ashore at Dover, taking the others with them against their will, and then continued to Kirkley, where the master and mariners went ashore, leaving the ship to two mariners and a boy. It was lost, and the owner and master of the ship seized the small quantity of their goods that they had been able to save to pay for the ship and passage. The rest of their goods that came to land were seized by the local people; and Biter Gold, master of the ship 'Peter' of Westminster, and his companions also took £200 worth of their goods.
