Full description and record details

Reference
SC 8/238/11861
Date
[? c. 1309]
Description
Petitioners
Llywelyn ap Iorverth (Iorwerth) of Anglesey.
Name(s)
ap Iorverth (Iorwerth), Llywelyn
Addressees
King and council.
Places mentioned
Anglesey, [Wales]
Caernarfonshire, [Wales].
Nature of request
The petitioner states that he holds a piece of land in Caernarfonshire, for which he owes suit at the county court, but, because of the water flowing between Anglesey and Caernarfonshire, he was prevented from coming to the county court, and was in default to the sum of 4s. 4d. He paid this, but the Sheriff of Caernarfonshire is distraining him for 4s. 4d. of annual rent, although he never paid any rent in the time of the King or of the princes. He requests a remedy.
Nature of endorsement
He is to come to the Exchequer with the Chamberlain on the morrow of All Souls.
Note
From the endorsement, this petition would seem to be a contemporary of SC 8/238/11857, SC 8/238/11858 and SC 8/238/11859. A note on the guard claims that it is another of the petitions formerly enclosed with CCW 1244-1326 p.297, which is dated 18 September 1309. This date would agree with the hand.
