Nature of request
William Broun, parson of the church of Llanrwst, complains that he was presented to the church by the King, and admitted and instituted by the Archbishop of Canterbury on 21 January in the King's thirteenth year (1390), but that Gruffudd Vaghan, Hywel Coytmaure, Rhys ap Gryffyth, Robert ap Gryffyth, Gruffudd Lya ap Gryffyth, Llywelyn ap Ken Duy, parson of the church of Gwytherin, Gruffudd Effir, chaplain of Dolwyddelan, Maredudd ap Howel Vaghan, David ap Cragh, Gruffudd ap Warthek and others occupied the church with lay force to prevent him from gaining possession. He brought a letter of the privy seal to the Chamberlain of North Wales and others to remove this lay force, and as a result was put in possession at the Nativity of John the Baptist last. But on the following 4 July the people name above drove him out again, and broke into the coffers and trunks of his church, and stole the offerings and profits.
