Nature of request
[This petition is badly faded.]The former Mayor and community of Melcombe Regis state that they have been burnt and destroyed by the sudden arrival of [enemies], so that no-one is now living in the town, which is held of the King as of his crown. They ask that they might be able to enclose their town at their own costs, and also that the King might grant them a supersedeas until Michaelmas of the fifteenth lately granted.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to the first article, they were answered in parliament that the King is not advised to grant it.And with regard to the second article, the supplicants are to have the supersedeas requested here until next Michaelmas.
