Nature of request
Letter to Edward III from Simon, Archbishop of Canterbury, complaining that Edmund de Nevile has intruded himself into the church of Great Horkesley and is occupying it by lay force, in defiance of sentences and decrees of the court of Canterbury, and preventing the rector, John de Coule, from gaining possession of the church or its fruits. He for a letter to the Sheriff of Essex to remove this lay force from the church and its appurtenances.
