Nature of request
Letter to Edward III from John, Archbishop of Canterbury, stating that Richard de Westone, monk of Abbey Dore, who had been duly elected Abbot and then unjustly despoiled of his office, has been restored to his office by authority of the court of Canterbury and the Archbishop's metropolitan authority, but that certain lay people are occupying the abbey with armed force, so that he cannot have possession. He asks the King for writs to remove this lay force.
