Letter to Edward III from Simon, Archbishop of Canterbury, stating that at the convocation of the province of Canterbury held at St Paul's cathedral in London, on the Monday after the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1359 [1360, new style], a tenth was granted by the clergy of the province for two years, with the qualification that nothing was to be demanded from parsons deemed too poor to pay, on the testimony of letters from the prelates to the Chancellor or Treasurer.
