Nature of request
Inquisition held on the Thursday following the close of Easter, 19 Edward II, finding that the Abbot of Bury St Edmunds and his predecessors have had cognisance of all pleas touching the Abbot and his men and tenants of Bury St Edmunds, and of all pleas arising in any way in Bury St Edmunds; and that it is not to the harm of the King or anyone else or to the diminution of the farm of the Sheriff of Suffolk if this cognisance is granted to the Abbot by charter.
