Nature of request
The Bishop of Norwich makes three requests:1) He states that as the town of Lynn, which is of his lordship and franchise, is a sea port, and people from many lands come there, felonies and trespasses against the King's peace are often committed, but that there is no prison closer than Norwich, and the people of Lynn, without whom no gaol delivery should be made, have the privilege that no plea of land or the crown should be heard outside their town. He requests a prison in Lynn.2) He requests return of writs and plea by vetito namio in Lynn.3) He requests that the charter which the King's father granted for a fair in Lynn might be confirmed, with the addition that he might have the fair even if he has not made use of it in the past, and that the time of the fair might be extended by fifteen days to last for a month.
