Nature of request
Letter from the Earl of Lancaster stating that he understands that the King has removed his hand from the manor of Farnley which is held of him, because an inquisition has found that the reversion belongs to William de Nevill because of the death of Margaret de Nevill, who held for term of life, through a fine levied in the King's court. The Earl, however, understands from the friends of the heir to the manor and men learned in the law that this cannot be so, because Robert de Workeleye, who gave Margaret an estate in the manor for term of life was never seised of the manor to give such estate by means of the fine - the transcript of which he sends to the King.
