Nature of request
William de Brigge and Joan his wife state that William de Godyineton leased his manor of Lower Hardres, except for the under-garden, to Reginald Hurel for a term of ten years, beginning on the Monday after St Barnabas in the twenty-ninth year of the King's father, and that Reginald was seised of the manor for the next three years until he died. On his deathbed he bequeathed the remainder of his term to William and Joan, and they were seised of it until William de Godyineton expelled them forcibly, during the term of the lease. They request a remedy.

Pledges to sue: John Scot, Thomas Shoppesole.Summoned.John de Grandene, Robert Fox.On the morrow: The defendant says that he did not expel the complainant from the manor of Lower Hardres during the term cited: therefore the jury is to come here on the Thursday after All Saints etc.The jury say that he expelled him with force and arms, to damages of sixty-eight and a half marks, of which 40 s.
