Roger Normaund states that Edward I granted to John de Loundres of Bordeaux that he might be a free burgess of Southampton, and that Edward II, wishing to give him even greater grace, granted that he and Joan his wife should be free burgesses for life. Now John is dead, and Joan has married Roger Normaund of Southampton; he asks that he and Joan might be free burgesses of Southampton, and have the same franchises as John and Joan had for the term of their lives.
