Nature of request
Writ of Edward II to William de Herle, John de Denum, justice of assize in Lancashire, ordering them, as before, to proceed to judgment in the assize of novel disseisin between Roger du Plat and Richard de Holand and others, or to inform him of the reason why they have not done so.
Nature of endorsement
With regard to one messuage, thirty acres of land, three acres of meadow and half an acre of pasture with appurtenances, of the tenements placed in view by recognisance of the aforesaid assize, we have not proceeded to render judgment, because, although we have established by recognisance of the aforesaid assize that a certain Hugh de Chedle and Thomas le Massy, who are named in the aforesaid writ, disseised the aforesaid Roger of the same tenements, we have however found by recognisance of the same assize that the aforesaid Hugh afterwards enfeoffed the aforesaid Richard de Holand with them, to have and to hold to himself and his heirs, and the same Richard afterwards adhered to Thomas, formerly Earl of Lancaster: because of which adherence the aforesaid lands are in the King's hand.
