Note (Additional information about the record)
- The petition dates to c. 1320-c. 1325 on the basis of the dating given by Rees, though Rees provides no really clear evidence for this date range (Petitions Relating to Wales, p.386). The hand fits a petition of about this date, and the Welsh marches had been destabilized by the activities of the Marcher lords prior to the confrontation of 1322 so that such a date range does seem reasonable.
