de Clare, earl of Gloucester and Hertford, Gilbert
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
[Petition in 2 parts, the petition missing its right-hand edge:]1) The earl requests Buteturte and Stanton to enquire oyer and terminer of those who trespassed in his lands and tenements in . . . both in the time of the late king and the present king.2) The earl requests that he be granted the punishment of those who trespassed against him.

[None].
People mentioned
John Butteturte (Buteturte), justice
[Hervey] de Staunton (Stanton), justice.
Note
The petition is dated to? 1310 as it seems likely that the petition is contemporary with two commissions issued on 20 May and 3 June into breaches of several parks and warrens belonging to the petitioner (CPR 1307-13, p.261). The petition makes no mention of parks, so it would seem that the two commissions, the latter of which includes the two justices requested in the petition, are not in direct response to the petition
