Nature of request
The writer addresses the honourable and wise men [? Council] and states he has received the king's writ on 11 March to bring the men-at-arms and foot soldiers to Portsmouth, and he has summoned other men of Dowers and of de la Pole, finding them sufficiently obedient, except de la Pole's men and he requests a remedy so that he be made to come. He states that because of the neglect of Wales he doubts that they will be so obedient in the future.
