Nature of request
The parson requests that he be pardoned the arrears of the sum that he owes for his church and that it be commanded that he be discharged in the Exchequer. He is an alien who has continually resided in England for fourteen years, and remained loyal to the king during the wars, and the church was taken into the king's hand during the war and he paid 5 marks for the extent until the plague when he could no longer pay. He requests this because he is old and unable to come and sue in person.1)

Coram rege.2) He should have a writ to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer to discharge him of the arrears.

The petition is dated to c. 1361 as it refers to 25 [Edw. III], and the petitioner was restored to the fruits of his church following the war with France on 16 February 1361 (CPR 1358-61, p.552).
