Nature of request
The petitioners request that further letters patent to Hull that after he has viewed the previous letters patent directed to him, that he put them into execution, and that he have power by his commission to hold inquisitions and make execution on those who robbed their ships and barges, and take their goods and chattels and their bodies and bring them before the king on pain of £1,000, and give him power to demand aid and support from the mayors, sheriffs, bailiffs and other officers of the towns of Bristol and elsewhere. The previous letters have not been executed for fear of the robbers.
