Nature of request
Hobald requests that his father's goods and chattels be granted to Emma his mother if they remain in the hand of the escheator of the county, and if not then she be granted the true value in aid of the delivery of her husband. The goods and chattels were taken into the king's hand because John Hobald was indicted of the death of Balard and had fled because of it, however Hobald had no knowledge of it and was taken by the Welsh rebels who killed Balard at the same time as is attested by the earl of Arundel.
