Nature of request
Sandford requests that writs be granted to Hilton and Lasselles under sufficient penalty for them to come at a certain day before the king and council to answer for the damage that they have done to his manor of Escrick and of other things that he will declare against them. They came by force and arms and broke down the manner to his and his tenants' great damage and made further assaults when the king commanded them by letters to cease their actions.
Nature of endorsement
[On face:]1) The king grants this if it seems reasonable to the council.2) The earl of Somerset.[On dorse:]Let writs be made under the great seal to Hilton and Laselles to be before the council at the octave of Hillary next to answer to the matter contained in the petition.By the assent of: the chancellor, Lord Furnival and the keeper of the privy seal.
