[Petition in 7 parts:]1) It is requested that writs be sent to all the ports of England that no-one except merchants and merchandise should pass without the king's licence except from the port of Dover, and find surety that they will only go to Calais, and in the same manner from Calais to Dover.2) It is requested that writs be made that the staple of tin, lead, worsted and drapes made in England be held at Calais.3) It is requested that those who are burgesses or merchants residing in the town of Calais with their goods and merchandise be free of all tolls in England except customs due to the king.4) It is requested that the people of Calais be quit of all taxes and tallages for 3 years.5) It is requested that no-one who is an inhabitant of the town or be at the king's wages will have soldiers billeted on them in enfeeblement of the [town].6) It is requested that the chancellor of England and the captain of Calais be ordered that no charter be granted to reside in the town except to English, except to those who are of the same town and are received by the grace of the king to live in the town.7) It is requested that it be commanded to the treasurer of Calais that Fraunceys take the wages as a man-at-arms . . . the king has ordained such officers of the town as necessary.
