Logan requests that the king grant him the archdeaconry of Down which is in the king's hand by the death of the bishop of Down, and the election of William Mercier the archdeacon as bishop of Connor. The archbishop of Armagh, into whose hands the spiritualities of the bishopric have been granted, has granted the archdeaconry to Glanville in disinheritance of the king.

The petition dates to 1354 as William Mercier, archdeacon of Down was elected to the bishopric of Connor and an order was made for the temporalities to be delivered on 2 November 1353, and Glanville was confirmed in his possession of the archdeaconry of Down 15 May 1354 (CPR 1350-4, p.501; CPR 1354-8, p.48).
