Nature of request
The commons request that the king consider their poverty and remit the subsidy of 3 groats [poll tax] granted at the parliament of Northampton which they cannot pay if they are to pay the fifteenth granted in the present parliament.
Nature of endorsement
The demand for the groats should cease until the fifteenth has been levied in the county, and let there be a writ to the treasurer and barons of the Exchequer of to cease their demands in the meantime until they have another order.

The petition is dated to 1382 on the basis of the dating given by Fraser, she noting that the grant of the poll tax of 3 groats was made in November 1380, and the fifteenth in October 1382 (Northumberland Petitions, pp.221-2 (no.199)).
