- The petition dates to c. 1384 as the original grant of the daily sum along with the order to the sheriff of Somerset and Dorset to pay it were made on 18 September 1384 (CPR 1381-5, p.462; CCR 1381-5, p.476). However, it is clear that the petition is some little time after this.
