Nature of request
The abbess and convent of Wherwell request confirmation of their franchise in the hundred of 'Mostowe' in Hampshire, whereby the provost of the abbey has seized the goods of Henry Harold, who has fled to sanctuary in their church after killing his wife Isabella. The matter had been tried by the judges of the Bench, and the king was found to have no right to such chattels except during any vacancy, but judgment was not rendered due to a difference between the justices.
