Note (Additional information about the record)
- John de Sudbury was presented to a prebend in Hastings in September 1380 and the officials were ordered to grant him possession in January 1381, all on the resignation of the petitioner. Whether this prebend is that of Brightling named in the petition is unclear, but it seems likely that it is. The petitioner is clearly requesting to be appointed to this post rather than relinquish it, and thus this petition probably dates to another, slightly later point in these events, with Thomas seemingly seeking to be restored to his original prebend.
