Note
Seemingly dated in error on the guard to? 1378-9, with reference to SC 8/129/6426. John de Morhalle was still alive in 1376 (CIPM XIV, no.250), and in 1381-2, although he had died by 1389, in which year Agnes made a fine regarding her own inheritance. The history of this family is given in G.T.O. Bridgeman, 'Some Account of the families of Beysin, Morehall and Clopton', Transactions of the Shropshire Archaeological and Natural History Society, Vol. I (1878), pp.281-310, although the latter part of that article (possibly mistakenly) discounts the terms of the entail mentioned here, which it dates (with reference to Dugdale) to 1378-9. A date around 1389 for this petition would appear likely, presumably shortly before SC 8/129/6426, which mentions that Thomas had been imprisoned and released. John de Clopton was the husband of Agnes and John's only daughter, to whom Agnes' own inheritance certainly passed.
