Nature of request
Nicholas Daudeley states that his father enfeoffed two parts of various manors in Somerset, Devon and Cornwall to Brockton and Egemondone, who then re-enfeoffed them to James and Joan, his wife, and their heirs. James then demised these lands to others for his life, with remainder to the king, and on his death the king entered them, and still occupies them. Nicholas requests that the council view his evidences and do right for these and other lands, for which the evidences are in the hands of others. He also requests that he have these lands at farm, but noting that they have been destroyed and wasted by the Duke of Ireland.
Nature of endorsement
Memorandum that this petition was delivered to Thomas, Bishop of Ely, Chancellor of England, to do justice, and that when the aforementioned Nicholas was summoned into the king's chancery he did not come.

The reference to Thomas Arundel as bishop of Ely and chancellor would date the petition to between his appointment as chancellor on 24 October 1386 and his elevation to York on 3 April 1388. The reference to the Duke of Ireland would also date it to between the creation of the title on 13 October 1386 and Robert de Vere's forfeiture on 3 February 1388.
