Nature of request
Record of the enquiry following the presentation of the petition at SC 8/221/11035, effectively a French copy of the latter part of SC 8/221/11046. It records that the chancellor examined the Warden of the Fleet prison and the clerks of the Common Bench, and found that as claimed by Fraunceys, Preston was not committed to the keeping of the sheriffs, even though this was ordered to be enrolled by the justices, but was indeed sent to the Fleet prison, where he remained in the custody of Saperton until he escaped, although he has since been recaptured. Fraunceys is to be discharged from all responsibility, and a schedule detailing these findings is to be added to the roll.

Note
This document appears to be a French version of the second half of the Latin memorandum at SC 8/221/11046. As such, it too was presumably produced at the time of the hearing, shortly after the closure of the 1397-8 parliament on 31 January 1398.
