Nature of request
The people of Lancashire request that they be exempted from customs charges on grain, malt, meat and fish charged at the ports of Lancashire and Kendal (Westmorland), as their land is poor and they cannot afford to pay.
Nature of endorsement
On 2 May in the twenty-first year, the council agreed that the petitioners be discharged of the customs and charges on the victuals named within until the king decide otherwise, and that letters patent be made. By the Chancellor, Treasurer, Keeper of the Privy Seal, John Bussy and John Russell.
