The unnamed petitioner (presumably the abbot of Shrewsbury or someone on his behalf) requests that Thomas de Whytton be removed as sheriff of Shropshire, as he received the office at the procurement of Richard de Lodelowe, nephew of Thomas de Lodelowe, a former sheriff who had maliciously accused the Abbot of Shrewsbury of forcibly removing a prisoner from his custody, for which the abbot was unjustly imprisoned in the Fleet prison.
