Nature of request
The citizens of Canterbury request that the king appoint justices to investigate their claims that the Archbishop of Canterbury has impleaded the bailiffs of the city, and has attempted to appropriate the main street of the city for his own tenants to set up their stalls, to their damage. They state that the Archbishop has such favour at court that their rights and those of the king are being destroyed.
