Nature of request
The four petitioners make separate but identical requests that, on account of their long service in Scotland and Gascony, they be granted their offices for life in the Duchy of Guyenne, or alternatively only in the seneschalcy of Saintonge. They complain that each new seneschal sent by the king has impeached them for extortions and removed them.
Nature of endorsement
[on face, after each request] It seems to the council that this should not be done.[on dorse] Coram Rege.
Note
Dated speculatively to the period c.1290-c.1330 solely on the basis of the handwriting. The name of the last petitioner is given simply as 'called Moyneblanc', suggesting that his proper name may have been omitted by the scribe in error.
