Note (Additional information about the record)
- A commission of oyer and terminer was issued on 11 August 1298 touching alleged injuries committed by the people on the bishop. Another was issued on 28 November 1298 on complaint of the townsmen, regarding the ditches around the town, and another on 18 February 1299, again seemingly at the request of the bishop. The petition almost certainly relates to this dispute, and may date to between the second and third of these commissions.
