Name(s)
Earl of Lancaster, Edmund
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
The king's brother makes three requests.1) He asks that the arrears of certain grants made to him by their father from the issues of Lincolnshire for his journey to the Holy Land be assigned to him from other counties as well in order to speed payment.2) He requests that he hold the franchise of The Strand in the honour of Leicester in the same manner as he and his ancestors held it up to the king's coronation.3) He asks that the king order the chancellor to issue letters stating the king's will regarding the keeping of the Ferrers lands.

Note
Edmund is known to have sought payment of the outstanding arrears of Henry III's grant in 1275 (Complete Peerage, VII, p.383 & note e). The reference to the king's coronation clearly dates the petition to some point after Edward I's return to England in 1274, while the reference to Edmund's stewardship of the Ferrers estates would also be consistent with this date.
