Note (Additional information about the record)
- This petition clearly formed part of attempts by Ferrers (d. 1279) to regain the lands of his earldom, forfeited in 1266 and never recovered. Dated on the guard to? 1274, with reference to an order to the sheriff to take the hundreds into the king's hands, and that they would never again be alienated.Wirksworth wapentake was often, as here, described as a divided wapentake.
