Reference
SC 8/218/10875
Date
[1274-c. 1291]
Description
Petitioners
Edmund de Everle (Everley).
Name(s)
de Everle (Everley), Edmund
Addressees
King.
Nature of request
Edmund de Everle requests that he may have the rent which Henry III gave his to him, his father, mother and brother, namely ten marks a year from the Exchequer, granted on account of his mother's service to the queen and her children, together with arrears of five years.
Nature of endorsement
He is to await the arrival of [the Bishop of] Bath.
People mentioned
Henry III, King of England
[Eleanor of Provence], Queen of England
[Robert Burnel, Bishop of] Bath.
Note
PROME, roll 12, appendix, no.159 states that this petition was submitted prior to the death of Robert Burnell in 1292, and it is likely to date from the period after Edward I's return to England in August 1274. Also, the related mandate appears to make clear that the service was to Henry III and Eleanor of Provence, and thus the petition would seem to pre-date Eleanor's death in June 1291.
